In the Spring and the Fall of each year, the
Fremont Area Community Foundation Board of Trustees award millions of
grant dollars to non-profit organizations across Newaygo County. In 2008,
we awarded over $10.6 million in grants, including supporting organizations,
geographic components and donor-advised funds.
FACF serves
only Newaygo County, Michigan so applying agencies must be located in,
or directly serve, people of Newaygo County. For those seeking grants
for programs in our affiliated counties of Lake, Mecosta, or Osceola,
please go to the link on Geographic Affiliates under the Foundation Partners
tab. Secondly, grant recipients must hold a determination letter from
the IRS declaring their 501(c)(3) status.
Once applications
are received, the Foundation's grantmaking strategy helps prioritize projects.
Within our broad purpose, the Foundation focuses its grant support on
arts and culture, community development, education, the environment, and
human services. We closely monitor community issues, opportunities,
and resources in these areas and work with the community, nonprofit groups,
and individuals addressing them. We are guided in our grantmaking by the
principals listed below.
Our grantmaking
principals:
- Build on prior investments
- Respond to community and identify priorities
- Focus resources and increase impact
- Remain consistent with our mission, values,
and capacities
